Another flag was photographed in Amsterdam on 2009-08-01.
It had dark blue field and the letters in white and orange; there are
also narrow orange stripes along the top and bottom edges. Since the
typeface was the same as on the present flag, or very similar, and the
colors were basically those of the 2002 flag (except the shade of
blue, which was much darker), it is possible that this flag was a
transitional variant, used between the 2002 flag and the rpesent one.

The VVD (Volkspartij Voor Democratie, People's Party for Democracy) is
the main liberal political party in the Netherlands, founded in 1948. Until
some months ago it was part of the "Pink Coalition", together with the
PvdA (Socialist) and D'66 (the leftist liberals), but in the past 90 days
it was part of a center-right coalition, together with the CDA (the main
confessional party) and LPF (Lijst Pim Fortuyn), a rather rightish populist
party. The VVD-logo is at the party's website.
I used it for the reconstruction of a flag I saw lying on the flour on
the news.

There is also an LGBT-related flag, which places the current logo on a
white square canton (size equal width the 1/2 of the flag width). Its
